The history begins in 1849, when the founder was born in a local farm from West Scotland. He tried a few different ventures before going for fashion. Soon after he got married with his childhood love, John was encouraged to start this brand in 1894. The first office was established in South Shields. The brand was named after him. These days, Barbour is no longer a local business, but a well known name for those who admire the countryside or just the simple style.
