Midwest Entertainers has purchased a great parcel on the grid in SL to open a new venue in June. “Roxi’s” will be hosted by our resident avatar, Roxi Bingyi. The venue will include an outdoor performance area in a virtual beach environment open to all genres. In addition, the location will house a “musician’s only” house. New live musicians entering SL will find everything they need at this facility to become a SL performer. Music gear by OD Designs, free clothes, avatar shapes, skins, hair & accessories are a few examples of what can be found here. “Roxi’s” can also provide the audio stream for easy access during a performance and a private area to work on your avatar design. “The World Wide Web will soon be absorbed into the World Wide Sim: an environment combining elements of Second Life and Google Earth”. Technology Review
“He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a hypercard. It looks like a business card. The hypercard is an avatar of sorts. It is used in the Metaverse to represent a chunk of data. It might be text, audio, video, a still image, or any other information which can be represented digitally”. Neal Stephenson, Snow Crash
“In a nutshell: I love Second Life. I love Google Earth. I want them to marry each other and have babies. I want a 3D avatarized gamespace map of the planet: the convergence of Neal Stephenson's Metaverse and David Gelernter's Mirror Worlds”… Jerry Paffendorf, Futurist, Electric Sheep Company - SL Conference, San Jose, CA.
